Our center offers low-fee counseling for adults, couples, families, seniors, adolescents, and children from across the San Francisco Bay Area. Our sliding-fee scale is structured to accommodate people of all income levels and life situations. We are the country's only university-affiliated Gestalt/existential therapy center. Our therapists are trained to focus on themes of difference and inclusion, offer a social justice perspective, and stress the importance of choice and awareness. We are open for in-person as well as virtual sessions!

CIIS Center for Somatic Psychotherapy

The Center for Somatic Psychotherapy offers high-quality body-mind-spirit psychotherapy. We welcome individuals, couples and partners, youth, and families of all ages, genders, racial and cultural backgrounds, bodily expressions, and sexual orientations. Our therapists are trained in both conventional and body-oriented counseling and psychotherapy. Our approach integrates basic therapeutic models with movement and breath practices, sensory awareness, and other somatic modalities. We offer low-cost, sliding scale therapy based on income both in-person and online.

The Liberation Institute

The Liberation Institute is a grassroots non-profit mental health organization based in San Francisco and Portland. We are co-created by counselors, psychotherapists, mindfulness teachers, artists and activists from the community we serve. Berkeley Psychotherapy Institute Community Clinic

The Community Clinic is staffed by therapists who have advanced degrees in psychology, social work, counseling, or related mental health fields and are participating in TPI's Psychotherapy Training Program.

TPI’s fee for therapy is $160. There is a sliding scale for those who cannot pay the full fee; our lowest fee is $45. Before your first session, you and your therapist will discuss the frequency of meetings, work together to set the appropriate fee for you, and set up convenient payment methods.

The James Goodrich Whitney Center for Jungian Psychotherapy

All Whitney Center therapists—whether interns or candidates in the Institute’s Analytical Training Program—have advanced degrees, and are supervised by Jungian analysts or advanced candidates. Some of our analyst members donate time to see Whitney Center patients in their private offices. After an initial interview to determine if the Whitney Center’s services are right for you, a therapist is chosen. Patients are seen for 50-minute sessions, usually once or twice weekly. There is no limit on the number of sessions. Fees are set on a sliding scale based on ability to pay.

Pacific Center for Human Growth

Founded in 1973, Pacific Center for Human Growth is the oldest LGBTQIA+ center in the Bay Area, the third oldest in the nation, and operates the only sliding scale mental health clinic for LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC people and their families in Alameda County.

We offer counseling for individuals age 7 and up, couples/polycules, and families. We are a practicum site for interns working to gain hours for their licensure. We accept Alameda Alliance Medi-Cal insurance only and offer sliding scale rates (starting at $45/hr) for private pay clients in California.
